It finally happened to me: I see someone else selling a coin I "Made".

I picked up this coin at a flea market in Frankfurt Germany in 1981 for DM 1,-. I sent it to PCGS late last year. I sold it to Angel Dees for a 1904 Indian Cent in PCGS MS-65RED. I now see it available on the internet on eBay. Just thought it was trippy.

A previously owned 1872 half dime

Please be a tad bit more definitive regarding the term "Made."image

    Nice looking dime.image

I had similar luck up in Canada last year. I was on vacation in Toronto and visited a few shops. Most US coins where either cleaned, laquared, or just poor quality. But, I did pick-up some really nice toned silver Roosevelt Dimes and Washington Quarters dirt cheap. So some nice material do float around in other countries with a little luck and nosing around. image

"Made" is defined by me as: I submitted to PCGS personally. It was purchased it raw and not in anyone's holder.

"Trippy" is a term from the 1960's related to a LSD "trip" or halucination. Normally "trips" are good, but sometimes they are bad. This was a good "trip".

When I read "Made," I thought one of two assumptions...1) You counterfieted or 2) You "Tone doctored" a coin. Sorry dude!image

Not that I would know anything about this stuff, but I'm pretty sure that isn't the way it's spelled.

    Tom,

It is pretty cool. I've seen a few of mine come up for sale, including one that was also picked up at a flea market. image

haven't really noticed any of my coins on ebay, but i've seen coins i've owned before pop up on heritage, i'd say about 10 - a dozen or so.

Airplanenut: Long before you were born, back in the 60's, we used colorful words to describe strange effects from the drugs that some people were taking -- back when drugs were a revolutionary, friendly, kinder, gentler thing than they are now. "Trippy" went into the lexicon as one of those words to express joy, fun, interestingness. Yes, to an oldster, a coin can be "trippy."

Remember what Dennis Hopper said: "If you can remember the 60's, you weren't there."

Russ: that was lysergic acid diethylamide, I think. Of course, I only read about this stuff. . .
