Wanted - 1988 Pro Set Promo Dan Marino

I am looking for this card to buy or trade for. Please let me know if you have one. If you do, I'd like to see a scan first. Mostly football to trade (and a few baseball).

    ProSet had a promo in 88? Was it the same design as the 89?

    Pro set put out an 8 to 10 card set in1988 that is essentially the same design as the 1989 set (with a few minor variations). The set is very rare and under 5,000 sets are reported to have been produced. There are only 4 graded Marino's from the set (3 8's and 1 9). Someone just sent me an offer to buy a PSA 8 for $135.

    they were mainly given away at the Nat'l Candy show in Phoenix in 88. basically to test the popularity of the new design. there are 8 cards in the set, the Marino being the most expensive

    i've seen the PSA 8 listed several times for $175 (BIN $225), with no bids.

    Goodriddance - thanks for the info. From what I remember, the Marino books for approx. $100 (NM/MT). The problem is, the population is so small, it's hard to gauge an accurate price.

    I knew they were handed out at a show - but didn't know it was the one in Phoenix. Thanks for the info.

    no prob. i got the info from the 96 Beckett Annual. when i used to be heavy into promos, this set was absolutely impossible (this and the 88 Pro Set Cunningham mini set). i saw about 5 singles from the entire set in 8 years of searching.

    I actually had the complete PROMO set with ALL the variations
    in a special issued (Don't remember who made em') "BOOK" that
    was made out of the same thing that the FOOTBALLS were made
    of (LEATHER?). I actually still have the book, but sold most all
    the cards. They are still a few variation cards left in the book
    and I actually sent in the Green Bay Packers Blair Bush and
    Gizmo Williams cards. Those both came back PSA GEM MINT 10!
    Never sent the Ditka cards in and there were actually (3) different
    variations. The book was the COMPLETE set of 1989 Pro Set cards
    including ALL the variations, PROMOS and the SANTA CLAUS CARDS
    (I still have those). I was never a FOOTBALL card buff (I like baseball
    cards!), but, when I saw this at a show, I thought it was COOL!
    I did get the PROMOS graded at SGC and they all came back
    between 88 and 96 (NM/MT to MINT). I also have a PSA graded
    card of Wade Boggs action packed from 1986, but I think that
    one is a bit more common than the PROMOS. Hope this helps
