Ask an established seller to list them under their name, for a commission. Of course you'll have to send him the goods without getting any money until after the auction, so choose carefully.

Since you have no selling feedback and negative buying feedback, most eBay shoppers will be suspicious of your wares and the bidding will show it.

If I were you I would start a new Ebay account. Explain to people that you are a new seller but established collector. Put contact info in the text, like your phone number, so they can contact you to discuss any concerns they may have. It may also be wise to accept Paypal. I will usually give a newer seller a chance using Paypal that way I can get my money back if things go wrong.

I agree, and a non paying buyer feedback doesn't mean much as far as a seller goes. I'm much more leery of the negs that state "Never rec'd item...item not as described...took 2 months" or the ones that post follow-up comments like "family of losers...can't read...liar... etc..."

If you have a few feedback and a confirmed paypal account then I would give you a chance, I will admit though that I tend to hold-back my bidding til later and I tend to bid a fair amount less than I would if you had 500 positives.

I couldn't list some stuff that I really needed/wanted to sell one day cuz I owed ebay like $220 in sellers fees so they wouldn't let me list til I paid that... rather than use my fiancee's account which has 40 feedback but no card sales obviously, I decided to wait. I knew the bidding would be lower and less frequent on that account than on mine. People can see I buy and sell a fair amount of cards and I have pretty good feedback.

    Just my .02
  • While we're on this topic, I have 100% positive feedback on e-bay (223 from unique sellers), but it is all as a purchaser. I'm interested in starting to sell on e-bay also. Without going through an "established seller", which I prefer not to do, am I really screwing myself price-wise by starting to sell under my name? Should I start by selling less valuable items?
  • TheCuse,

If you got a rating of 223 and 100% you shouldn't have anything to worry about IMO. image

  • Thanks for the vote of confidence Jeter. The above messages had me a little worried about selling with no "seller" feedback.

Well do you know the format by which you are going to sell? Meaning do you mind putting out a $25+ card at $1.99 and having to sell it at that price? Or do you want to use BIN and or set prices. I usually have a scheme (as Im sure others do) using the valuse of the card to dictate "opening bid".

Some people start all auctions at a set price. For example .99.

Maybe you can start a bunce at .99 get a small rep going and slowly raise your initial bids. Or if the response is good keep it at .99.

Have to start somewhere. Good luck.

O another piece of advice offer combined shipping. Buyers love that.

  • Thanks for the advice AKnot. I really haven't thought about a global scheme. I'm in no rush to start selling, particularly in a buyer's market, so I'm content to digest advice like yours, which is much appreciated. By the way, I collected football only for a couple years in the early-mid 80's, but I just got back an' 83 Marcus Allen PSA 9, '83 Montana PSA 9 and '84 Elway PSA 8. My Marino '84 wasn't worthy for submission.
