2 errors on the same coin? Franklin half

Well, I continue my "fun with my new loupe" night. I never knew coins were so BIG!!!

I have a question about a couple of things I saw on a 1957-D franklin half. The first is a double "D" mint mark on the back of the coin. Is that what double mint marks look like? I hope the image is large enough for you to see it.

The second "goober" is on the front of the coin, above the "R" in the word "trust". A hunk of metal connects the letter with old ben's neck.

Am I imagining things? Do these add any value to what is a pretty worthless (overall) coin?

Thanks,
Nearly blind now Zulan

Don't make jewelry out of it. It is a nice find. They are collectible. I am not sure about the value tho. Here is a link of some other RPM's for you to see if you have. RPM link

edit: Lucy SLAPPED you because you said the Franklin was a "what is a pretty worthless (overall) coin? ". Bad Zulan Bad! image

    Lucy,

Zulan is new (not sure if you saw his threads) and has come into the hobby with a bunch of coins that were unknowns.

Zulan....lucy loves frankies...big and small. image
She feels you insulted the frankies.....even if unintentional

  • Cool beans!! Continuing down the Franklin pile I found the same date/mint Franklin with exactly the same front face error, in exactly the same spot(only a little bigger this time). Do you think they couls have been struck from the same die?

  • Could be ~ I have a run of several (BORING MODERN ALERT) state quarters from the same roll that all share the same odd indentation in the same location. They're in flips for now but may go in as errors someday (after at least one real expert has seen em)

    Zulan,

Since you don't like the franklins, you can just skip that double mintmark one over the water to me image
I wouldn't mind having it at all (trying to find a nice doubling coin to go in the collection).

  • Doesn't really look like an RPM to me...but can't say for sure from the pix

Thanks, Zulan. Now you've got me starting what will end up being a all day project searching my Frankies for the same RPMsimage

Zulan, smoetimes a gentle slap can be a part of foreplay. wear it with pride, a Lucy slap is worth it.
  • Here is a "better" view of the mint mark, more magnification. Is it a RPM?
  • DARN!! The enlargment didn't work on the last post. I'll keep trying...
  • If you don't want those worthless (overall) coins, send 'em to me, I'll take them off of your hands for free.

Looks like you have a couple of Franklins with a die chip or small die break (not sure which). The second one is a later die state with a little more of the die chipped or broken away. Cool! image
