Weakest HOF HR Hitter Ever..........

I was going through my Topps 1965 cards, and was startled when I took a look at the stats on #485 Nellie Fox (HOF). He is listed as a player coach for that year (Astros) and don't know if he ever had any more at bats vs the stats listed on that card.

In 18 major league seasons, Nellie hit a whopping 35 home runs in 9,191 at bats in 2,346 games! That is one HR per every 262.6 at bats! Makes me wonder if that is the worst HR ratio of all time for a modern day HOf'er, ex pitchers (and some of them may have a better ratio).
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!

As a side note -- Hoyt Wilhelm is the worst hitter (.088) in the HOF. (In case anybody wants to know, the all-time lowest batting average, among players with at least 200 at-bats, is Ron Herbel's .029 — 6-for-206.)

    Johnny Evers had 12 HR's in 6,137 AB's.
  • An interesting aside to Wilhelm, he hit a home run in his first at bat and never had another one when compiling his aforementioned .088 lifetime batting average.
