My own top 5 pet peeves about Ebay sellers...

High volume sellers, and casual slow pokes are both guilty of seriously annoying me. As a seller I try to think of every angle to make my auction a smooth convenient transaction for my buyer. So here are my top 5 pet peeves...maybe you'd like to add your own comments...

1. sellers who use their own checkout system.

2. those who charge mandatory $2.20 insurance for $10 items

3. pEO ple waho cant speel and typee liek this

4. people who won't take paypal! i know it costs them more but it turns me away as a bidder every time; or, people who will take it but don't list it in their checkout and you have to go do it manually.

5. SUPER BIG BLOWOUT SELL!!! TWO THOUSAND POUNDS OF TOTALLY UNSEARCHED WHEAT PENNIES!!!!!! BUY NOW!!! BUY NOW!!! BUY NOW!!!!

OK, now that all that's off my chest, I can go start some dinner

That's a reasonable list. I'm proud to say I don't do any of those things. image

I only require insurance if I think an item is valued at more than $50. I'll always make it available as an option for $1.30 in that case, but won't require it -- and will add a bold-face disclaimer about not being responsible for lost stuff in the mail, yadda yadda. Usually more expensive items I ship insured Priority with delivery confirmation and I charge $5 plus $1 per $100. Depending on the item and how it's packaged, I may offer first class for $2 less as an additional option. People padding their profits with "handling" charges are one of my peeves.

As for PayPal, I agree. It takes a cut from my sales, but I'm also confident that offering it brings out more bidders and probably increases the sale price by more than the fees in the average case.
