7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?

I already sent him one check. He of course was nice enough to send a card in return.

  • hahahaha, Roach you rule! i've been selling off part of my collection and saving up for a 1955 Parkhurst Quaker Oats Jacques Plante PSA 5. these are incredibly tough to find, probably less than 100 in existence? in 8 years of searching i've seen only 5 offered. this is the highest graded example.

i'm gettin pretty close, probably $950 saved so far. i'll definitely finish it off in early august. i've been living off ramen and dollar pizzas for a month now, but hey its worth it. thanks for the generous offer, but i can't accept. i told myself i would raise this cash by actually saving, instead of hitting up my mom or selling stock.

really? which card did you buy?

ctsoxfan, i've been selling off some of my PSA 9 OPC hockey rookie cards, and a few scattered raw rookies/jerseys/autos. i'm pretty much out of autos and game used stuff, save for a few no names. i still have a TON of mid 90's to 2002 inserts and stuff, they aren't worth a dime. its not really worth listing a ton of $25 BV cards on ebay and getting a buck apiece for em.

Plante revolutionized it but I think Clint Benedict was the first to wear a mask.
  • SoFLPhillyFanSoFLPhillyFan Posts: 3,931 ✭✭

And who was the last goalie to play without a mask?

    Eddie Giacomin?
  • Giacomin or Gerry Cheevers, i think
  • aro13aro13 Posts: 1,961 ✭✭✭
The last goalie to play without a mask was Gump Worsley.

  • << <i>Plante revolutionized it but I think Clint Benedict was the first to wear a mask. >>

    Jrmcdaddy

    you are correct

    ARO13

Nope it wasnt Gump Worsley . The last goalie to play without a mask was Andy Brown. Brown played his last NHL game on April 7, 1974 to become the last goalie to play without the mask.

  • aro13aro13 Posts: 1,961 ✭✭✭
Yzerman19C - Did Brown also go maskless in the WHA? I read in Fischler's book that Worsley was the last "quality" goalie to wear a mask so I assumed incorrectly that he was also the last. Thanks for correcting my faux pas. image
  • Yes, Brown did go maskless in the WHA. For more info on Brown check this site out: Andy Brown
-Always looking for modern goalie/Ron Hextall cards.

Yes Worsley was the last quality goalie to go without a mask but Brown was the last to appear in an NHL game without a mask
