Price Guide Improvements

I just noticed that PCGS has updated the price guide for the Gobrecht, Seated and Trade dollars. While I see a few prices I would disagree with, in general it is light years ahead of any other price guide out there ..... well done!

PCGS Will Exhibit Finest Set Of Seated Dollars At ANA Convention

That is the message greeting everyone who visits the PCGS site currently. Do you suppose that updating the Dollar price guide at this time was a coinkidink?

They are still way behind in rare gold (at least some areas). I would buy EF 1861-O $20's hand-over-fist, as fast as they could come, at $3000.

Frankly, I would rather see PCGS focus on their core competencies: grading and the registry and abandon efforts to offer the price guide. It does not generate revenue, and there are better and more timely resources. I guess Mr. Hall believes it enhances the business in some way.

The 65/66R IHC and FE prices seem to have been updated and are ballpark. Only a couple stand out as being odd.

    TDN,
Can you tell me where the listings are for the Gobrecht Dollars?

I see some Lincolns changed price, but most are still way off... 64rd 27-s went from $500 to $600, I just paid $1955 for one.

We are trying hard to get the PCGS price guide straight and up to date...it's a big job. Please send any comments and suggestions to dh@collectors.com. I'll check it all out...but give me time on all suggestions.

    Thanks for the help.

It would be helpfull if a date was marked as to the most recent date of price correction for a series.

Obviously the series will be updated on a rolling basis and thus the dates for each should be so noted.
