Talked to LordMarcovan and he mentioned that darksiders are more laid back about touting some coins. Since I am not known for selling darkside stuff I figured that you all might not have seen the other four frenchies I am selling.
1848 Gilt French Pattern Sun Goddess 20 Franc...NGC MS63...300$-SOLD!!!
I was going to start collecting these patterns as I think that they have some of the most beautiful designs of any coinage I have seen. I think they represent a very undervalued area in numismatics. I was going to put together the entire set of the contest of Montagny and display it at an ANA. Two factors kept me from doing it...first, I really need to slim down my pursuits. I just cant collect everything. Secondly, I have had a heck of a time finding the book written by Jean Mazard to study them, not to mention that the one book I have by him is written in French....
Anyway, I bought all of these coins from Boiler (who seems to be missing btw, has anyone seen him?). I am selling them for the same price that he sold them to me and he sold it to me for the same price he paid. I think that they are definitely worth the price. All are intriguing, attractive and an area that deserves more study. By the way, the 20 Franc patterns are about the size of a nickel, the 5 francs the size of a silver dollar and the 10 centimes about the size of a half dollar.
