Levi is auctioning this PSA 1 off...
1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 1
As one who is interested in obtaining a PSA 1, I've been trying to estimate how much one should cost. Being that this one currently has no bids, I really can't say whether Levi's opening bid amount of $2,475 is reasonable.
Assuming this doesn't sell this time around, what do you think a fair price would be for this card?

Levi typically is not that flexible on prices. They have the best inventory around - especially of collector grade material. Not to mention Levi's awesome personal collection. But that being said - he has a pretty robust business, and his model seems to work. Large, extensive inventory combined with high prices - even if he only flips a small percentage of what he has in any given quarter - he is making huge margins, generates good cash flow, and does not risk losing the breadth of his inventory.
I can't think of anyone else who routinely has a selection of PSA 1 - 8 of nearly every Mantle card.
edited to say, but if he sold one for $3500, then i bite my tongue!

<< <i>He's actually selling two 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle's and I would rather have the crease than the clipped corner and poor surface.

Wow, and he wants $2,250 for the more beat-up one. Looks like my $1,500 dream may remain just that!

I posted it then-someone else scammed those exact pictures then!!
Awful.
<< <i>See this thread! Pics look the same to me.old thread >>
So the scammer stole another scammer's stolen scans.

When submitting a card like this for grading should you put down the value at $50.00 or $2000.00.
<< <i>A little faded but worth taking a chance for only $51.00

"The card was bought as not authentic and I'm selling it as one."
It looks like a part of Timothy Leary's collection. I swear that the eyes on that card follow me as I scroll up and down the page.
my question is this: Who in their right mind would pay $1500 for a Mantle card that is from a seller with 93% feedback, only a 14 score, and has only completed 1 transaction in the last 3 months?
I still contend that ebay could save itself, and paypal (which they own) a TON of $$$$$$$$ if they would hire a card expert to sift through auctions and pull the fakes/stolen scans/scams.
As far as Mantle prices, I've noticed a significant decline in the prices of these cards as more and more potential Mantle buyers use my guide (which I sell on e-bay for a couple bucks), in which I show the different type of fakes, and list all the auctions, past (back to mid-May at the moment) and current, where fake Mantles are for sale. It also allows me to track the prices.
From what I've gathered in doing this, well over 50% of the sales of the fake cards fall through. One seller, sanfranciscobaytrading, is the biggest seller of fake Mantle's, and he always gets the highest prices because he shills every one of his auctions (they're private of course). He consistently runs 2-3 a week. His prices have been dropping though, even with the shills, over 100 would-be Mantle bidders have been educated on spotting the fakes within the past 2 months, and it's killing these fake auctions. Of course, there will always be new suckers who will learn the hard way, and that is unavoidable.
The market on the fakes is plummeting sharply. The obvious fakes used to sell in excess of $1,000 regularly just 1-2 months ago, now they are barely pushing $300-500, and I think there's some shilling behind some of the current prices as well. I intend to continue offering my guide, and I would only guess based on what I've seen over the past couple months since I started it, that prices on fakes will continue to fall as I am able inform more and more potential buyers.
