Finally done..complete proof barber set..67.97

Its sure taken awhile but i just listed this complete set all proof barbers..dimes quarters and halves..average grade surpasses all old sets listed (Eliasberg,Childs) and is the only current set listed..There are still a couple of coins I would like to improve upon, but i think I have a bead on those few as well..thanks to all that have helped me with this "super set" Legend,Pinnacle,Whitlow,Iskowitz, and fellow Collector "Zerbe"..

Bruce, that is an awfull lot of high grade barbers for one person to possess. image Great job rounding up all those rascals. An awesome, complete set.
  • You're done!!! I was hoping you had more coins to buy for this set so that you would have less money to spend in the upcoming Heritage ANA sale of Commems!!! Don't you think you should concentrate on getting those last few upgrades on the Barbers to have a PERFECT SET? image

I find it amazing that Bruce only needs probably one coin to reach a Proof 68 average for the entire Barber series ! There is not the slightest possibility of any 'Phantom Set' appearing overnite to claim the 'All Time Finest' spot. Congratulations again Bruce. You must be selling an awfull lot of tires !!!image

    Bruce,

Do you collect white coins or toned coins...or a combination of both coins ?

There is a collector in Oklahoma with unquestionably the BEST proof Barber quarter collection ever assembled. He is a client of Larry Sheperd. He also has a proof Barber dime and half collection. He is listed on the NGC registry

Do you plan to exhibit your coins?

Cool! Congrats on your accomplishment. Too bad you couldn't have had it up a few weeks ago for the awards.

I'm dying to know..... why does one of the new ones say 'upgraded' and the other say 'updated'??
  • scherscher Posts: 924
Bruce, I wouldnt have noticed that if you didnt point it out...all I can figure is that the 1898 was "upgraded" cause I had a 67DC and replaced it with a really cool 68DC and the 1915 was a 66 that was replaced with a 66 cameo..so best I can tell if the cain stays the same numerically it is only "updated"..a change in the number must trigger the "upgraded"...

That is correct. The same numerical grade gives the term, "updated" whereas a higher grade yields "upgraded." This can be whether you are dealing with a new coin or a regrade situation.
