IKE REGISTRY- BUSINESS STRIKES

A RECENT POLL CONDUCTED ON EBAY STATED THAT IKE BUSINESS SETS WERE THE FASTEST GROWING SET IN THE REGISTRY. THIS IS BECAUSE THEY ARE VERY CHALLENGING. I USED TO THINK THAT COLLECTING MORGANS AND LARGE CENTS WERE A CHALLENGE UNTIL I TRIED HIGH GRADE IKES !

True - big, heavy coins make big, heavy bagmarks! image

  • Yup definitely hard to do., I've been messing with it off and on for five years or so.
Basic set completed, way down towards the bottom of the list though, currently #69 in the list.
This set is only waiting for my PCGS submission to get back to finish this one.
But it'll be in amuch better position downaround 33 or 34 or so.
My proof Set is complete too
But it currently resides at the bottom, but it can only get better.
It's waiting on some more submissions (hopefully better) to get back from PCGS.

Try collecting High Grade Large Cents or even High Grade Morgans. My dealer was an underbidder on a 93-S at over 400k.

I agree.......HIGH-grade Ikes are VERY HARD to find!
It is a fun set to put together and has many things going for it:
It is the last of the "BIG" Silver Dollars
    It is short...1971-1978
And is not that expensive to complete....(except in HIGH grades)image

    I LOVEimageIkes!

  • I Agree That High Grade Morgans And High Grade Large Cents Can Be Very Expensive; I Collect Both, But Only Selectively. Prooflike Morgans Represent 7 Per cent Of The Total Population, For Ikes I'ts
    Less Than 1 Per Cent.
In Addition, Wrong Planchet Ikes Are On A Rarity Level With The
1943 Copper Cents, About The Same Number Of Examples.
Futhermore, Type # 2 Ikes, And Color Coins In Business Strikes
    Are Rare,And Seldom Available.
Lastly, Buying Morgans And Large Cents Now Was Like Buying Gold When It Was $ 800.00 Per Ounce. The Only Way To Sell High Is To Buy Low !! I Feel This Is A Perfect Ground Floor Opportunity For The Average Collector, And A Good Long Term Investment With The Ike Dollar.
When Any Series Becomes Too Expensive, They Turn Into "Short Sets', Or, " Type" Sets, or " Type" Coins.
Once Again, You Are Correct About The Cost Of Morgans, And Large Cents. However, I Sold All Of This Material, Except For A Few
Key Dates. I Feel That Now Is The Time To Sell, Not Buy Morgans, And Large Cents.
iI Never Forget That What Goes Up, Comes Down. This Bull Market Has About 18 Months To Go, Then We Should Return To A Bear Market. Besides, I Wanted To Sell My Coins And Not Get Paid Off In Inflated Dollars !!

A 72-D PCGS MS66 Ike Dollar is about the same as the 76-D Type 1 in MS66...a good one should fetch $250.

DRG, you Dog! That one is at least as nice as the one that I just made and is for sale - first $250 gets it delivered
