PEG LEG BUSINESS STRIKES

I AGREE THAT PEG LEG BUSINESS STRIKES SHOULD BE INCLUDED.
HOWEVER, THEY ARE AT LEAST 20 TIMES MORE DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN
THAN 1972- TYPE # 2 IKES.I DON"T AGREE THAT 1972 PEG LEGS SHOULD BE INCLUDED.

    Hey CoinDog,

I'll trade you one for one grade for grade my MS 1971-S Peg Legs for your 1972-P TY2's same grade? How many do you have to trade? TY2's that is? I have 8 MS Peg Legs.

Grandam: Are your Peg Leg coins graded? If so what are the grades? I tend to agree that the 71 S Peg Leg is harder to find then the 72 T2 however since PCGS does not yet certify the Peg Legs they do not command the premium they deserve.

As a follow up to my original thread about the 71 S Peg Leg, I have not heard back from Mr. Hall. If anyone else wants to ask about this today would be the day in the Q&A forum. I think if more of us show interest he is more likely to address the issue.

Coindog: You state that you do not think the 72 D Peg Leg should be included. Have you seen examples of the coin? I know they have not been widely recognized but I can tell you (as I have a couple of rolls of them) they are very similar to the 71 S if not identicle.

  • GRANDAM,
I Will Take You Up On Your Offer, As Soon As Pcgs Starts To Certify This Variety, And If It Is Included In The Registry.
I Think You Will Change Your Mind By Then !!
I Am Listed As " RED BARON " In The Registry, And I Would Be Willing
To Trade For All Of The 7 Coins That You Are Offering.
I Currently Have 28 Of The Type # 2 Coins. 10 Of These Are In My 10 Registyr Sets. 9 More As Pcgs Back Ups, 2 Anacs, 1 Ngc, And 8
Raw. One Of The Raw Coins Was Gold Plated By It's Previous Owner By Error !!!
  • GRANDAM, I Have 7 , Not 9 pcgs Back UPS. I Would Be Interested In Trading Graded Coins Only.
  • DRG, Yes I Have 16 Of Them ( 1972-d) Peg Leg. They Are Similar To The 1971-S Peg Leg. However, I Feel That The 1971-S Peg Leg Is A
Totally Different Die From All The Other Dies.

    Mitch,

Proof Peg Leg 71-S is not un-common. With today's market, you could get it less than $80 for PR69DCAM. For business strike, it is a totally different story. Usually, MS 71-S Peg Leg is with good luster but tons of contact marks.

May be when PCGS introduce the Proof Ike varietries set and add 71-S Peg Leg in it, its preimum will increase. To me the key date for Proof set is the 74-S small mint mark. It is scarce based on my experience.

Proof Peg Leg 1971-S Have Little Value. Even If They Were Included
    In The Registry.
  • True. If It Is Ever Included In The Registry There Would Be Few Sets
