1941 Proof Walking Liberty Half Dollar "NO AW" vs "AW"

Anybody know the scoop on this variety...is it a major variety...which one is worth more...etc.

It's scarce and has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, nobody seems to care at the moment. But I'll pay a 10% premium.

BTW, there's also a 1936 proof with an almost missing AW. Irrelevant, but interesting.

The AW was removed by overpollishing the proof dies. It is very common on the 1941. I think Breen estimates 3/4 of the 1941 proof walkers lack the designer's initials.

I had some nice picutres and proof walkers that demonstated this overpollishing in my FUN show educational display.

He does. However, my impression is that something more like 10% lack the initials, but I can't honestly say that I've been paying close attention for long. Can anyone else further enlighten us?

I have a proof '38 Walker with no initials. I've had one or two '41 and/or 42's
like that, but don't really have a feel for percentages.

Given two indentical coins, I'd take the no initials anyday!
