New Set Registry Award

I've made a suggestion to BJ about an award for the best set in terms of scans and comments. I really enjoy seeing the cards themselves and reading the comments. She said she would present the idea to Joe. Anyone here in favor?

    sounds good.

would probably get more folks to add these things (scans + remarks).

    thanks, lee
  • IMO it just isn't right to have a set on the registry and there be absolutely no scans or comments. What is the point? Am I really supposed to be impressed by the fact that you have a list of names with numbers next to them? Guess that separates the collectors from the money bags image

Great idea, especially if it encourages more people to truly display their cards.

I agree full heartedly. If you have no scans then what is the point of showing off the set.

The world meets no one half way. If you want it you have to go get it.
  • if you spend your money on a scanner and don't have enough left over for booze, what's the point? image

That's a good idea Frank, perhaps it would entice more collectors into putting scans up. I've been trying to slowly get caught up on the scans for my sets. All the 65's, Yaz, and BoSox team sets are scanned. My '69's are more than 1/2 scanned I think, the 77's need a lot of work yet. It's really nice to see sets that you have no examples of, such as prewar stuff .

I am absolutely in favor.....great idea. I hope more and more members post scans and comments. It sure adds quality to the registry.

jwest94 said it best.....what is the point of names and numbers without some personalization of your set?

  • I think I would have won that one on my retired 1981 Fleer Master Set. Every card was scanned and loaded and I had a comment for each player.
