Watching the "Big Fish" in Baltimore

I went up to the convention in Baltimore for a few hours on Friday. As a small time collector it sure was an experience!!
Talk about sensory overloadimage

I planned on being there a few hours and that turned into six. The more you look at, the more that catches your eye. One of these days
I'm going to have to spend an entire weekend browsing and chatting.

A lot of dealers seemed busy with "behind the scenes" sales with other dealers, but I was able to have the oppprtunity to speak with nearly a dozen or so.

I have to say the highlight for me was talking with a gentleman from ANACS who did free grading of coins. I had him look at a 1934 light motto Washington quarter and an 1878 CC GSA Morgan dollar which IHO would grade at MS 64 and MS 64/65 respectively.

In closing I was wondering...do forum members ever get together at these conventions at meet? Put names to faces etc. Just curious.

I have to leave when I run out of cash otherwise I'm tempted to write bad checks! image

Forum members do get together (I haven't been able to do it yet) but just watch the forums
immediately prior to a show & you'll see chat about lunch & dinner get-togethers!

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

Sensory overload is right. You have to look at coins with blinders on or else you'll faint from exposure.

  • I went Saturday. If my woman didn't beat me down with things to do today I'd be there again! My wallet's on fire!

I'd say going back today would be a waste of time.Laura had it right.I'd say 70% of the dealers packed up yesterday afternoon.Only the true diehards will be there today.

Maybe you should go back and see if he'll accept a return - most honest dealers will.

So where were you guys on Friday? How did I miss you at 12:30, waiting by the entrance to the hall?

How could you miss a guy that stands 6'7" and has on a brilliant red shirt? That would have been Tootawl.....
