Norse insanity, at least with the sellers listing prices!!!!

In my quest to find a nice Norse American Medal, I happened across a couple of them offered on eBay a few weeks ago. Interestingly it was a matched pair of NGC MS64 holdered thick and thin examples which look nice in the listed pictures. When I first saw the listing, I believe it was with a BIN or starting bid of $650.

I saved it and watched it run it's course with no bids and a subsequent re-listing at a more reasonable price of $499. Ever the tightwad image looking for the best deal, I kept a close eye on the auction. When it went unbid upon I fully expected it to be re-listed again at an even lower price which would have been my vultures call to pounce!!!!!! Instant fame would have been mine along with bragging rights at the forum for the week's best pinch.

Well, this is where the story takes a funny twist. I logged on this evening and lo-and-behold this is what I found. DOH!!!! The seller evidentally had a reverse twinge of good sense and figured he's better not selling the medals at a higher price or something. In the end, I'll track it again and see where we go from here.

BTW, there's another medal that has been listed and listed and listed and listed and listed..........for close to three months now, at least that's how long I've been noticing it. Nothing changes with that one and it's raw, so I am suspicious. Alas, the hunt continues. Anybody think I'm just a bit too picky??imageimage

$499. for both the thick and thin in 64 would have been a pretty good deal (especially the thin- it's worth much more than $250.00). I can't blame you though for trying to squeeze a slightly better price though.

I've often wondered how popular these would really be if they were not listed in the Red Book.

Ask that question in Iowa or Minnesota.

  • Al- Why not just contact the seller and tell him how you have been following the pricing on his medals for a while on EBay and make him an offer for the coins? You have nothing to lose and two nice medals to gain if successful.

    hey Dave

i'm actually more inclined to do that with the multiple re-list medal. it has an overall better quality---at least from the posted pictures. i'm a classic procrastinator, though!!
