Went to the bank...

and got $400 worth of rolls, some pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and halves. I got nothin. I only found 2 wheaties (1941 and 1941-S), the oldest nickel I found was an 1959 something, not a notable dime, quarter, or half.

i don't have an account at this bank ( a long standing bank in a small community). I was surprised that I had to use the "I've got connections" line in order to get these rolls. They said they couldn't sell me rolls of change if I didn't have an account. I've heard banks not wanting to count rolls, but not give change? This caught me by surprise.

I do this about once every 6 months or so. I usually don't find anything and I'm not sure I'll do it again. Does anybody really find anything worth their time doing this?

  • You never know when you might get rolls good stuff. You might get one roll and find ten nice coins or buy one hundred and get none.

In a year of looking I came up with $100 face of 90% silver halves and $500 in 40% silver Kennedys. From rolls and getting the bags from the change machines at banks!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • Found a few error coins, including a 1974 Lincoln with a big cud, and various foreign and wheat cents.Nothing really old or worth much above face though.
