Buying 2004 Rolls

Does anyone know where to purchase new rolls of coins? (Besides E-bay or the US Mint) I've tried several banks in town, but know one has them or knows where to get them. I heard they can be purchased through Brinks, but have no idea if that if valid or not. Anyone?

  • i understand the mint ships em in bags and brinks rolls em for banks.
i did buy 2 rolls of 04 jeffs from the mint.
i suppose these would be less "baggy" but they cost more.

Try asking to speak to the vault manager at a larger bank. It won't be easy to make a contact but it can be done.

It's not impossible, but it may be a bit of a crapshoot. At a bank where I used to work, I asked the main vault about getting rolls of new cents and was told that I could only get them loose (not rolled). And Agnes, the main vault teller, did not sound like she was in any way eager to fulfill my request. Since they would not have been rolled, I passed on it. Brinks shipped our coins in boxes of shrink wrapped rolls, and it was hit or miss on getting rolls of new coins. Sometimes they would have various amounts of old coins mixed in, and sometimes there would be a few rolls that had all new coins. Rarely, but occasionally, the entire box would be new. Supply and demand also plays a part in how quickly new coins get shipped. image

It's always nice to give them to the grand kids. And who knows? Maybe in 50 to 60 years . . .
