Definitely not British - yet without them it wouldn't exist ;-}

Well the British fans probably won't be interested - so just pass this one by. On second thought - you might wanna look as this coin came to be struck entirely because of the Brits image

The answer to my question lies in the past - about 700 yrs in the past - that's clue number 1 image Clue number 2 is that this is a French coin - big surprise coming from me now isn't it image

So just what is it that I am talking about ? How can a coin not be British and yet owe its very existance the England ?

    Although i know exactly what coin your are talking about you didn't explain the history to me about it, but i actually know that anyway... lemme guess Edward III, a guy named John and a war that lasted a very long time... John did what kings really should let happen to them (mind you Richard I of England did exactly the same)... causes lots of financial problems... am i close GD?

    The answer can i believe be found in Keen's - 'England in the Later Middle Ages' trust me i've read all about it whilst revising for my medieval history exam...

    So I'll just post the coin and see if any of those who haven't seen this on other forums can come up with the story behind the coin image

    Well now - funny you should say that. For in point of fact - that coin was given away. It was given to an Englishman image
