It's either a strong VG-10 or an F-12 IMO.

F-15 or VF-20... except every letter of LIBERTY being full, it's VF-20 easily.

I think it will go F15. I think it is just short of VF.

Would the reverse shield still have all the horizontal lines if the coin were only a F-15?

I totally agree with you John.

This 1901-S NGC VF-25 on ebay is no better and I really think they've over-graded.

The actual coin looks much lighter than the pic though..

I'm with the F15 crowd.

That is how I would grade it, anyway. Might go higher with a TPG service, who knows?

Brian,

I agree, the NGC coin looks a bit to liberal. NGC might Vf-20 your 01-s, but I am about positive that PCGS will F-15 your 01-s.
Nice coin, but just not quite enough for Vf-20

The CDN July 04 on the 01-s barber .50 is

Fine 110/120
Vf 225/245

As far as prices trading for, Tyler or Dave or one of those others will no more about barber halve prices in general than I do. I only follow a few of the dates!

I got the coin in mail today and in person the coin is much lighter then the pic show.
Here's a pic that's more in-line after examined in person:

I'd prefer the darker toning but still it is a nice coin
