Thats a good trade for heat if they give the first rd pick.... The negative to this is that Shaq can opt out of his contract next year if he wants too.

david aldrige on espnews just said shaq accepted a trade to miami meaning he will re-sign there when his contract is up. riley and shaq are in miami right now and what's being discussed is about the contract. they came to terms and shaq accepted a trade to miami. the will include caron. now this trade turned from steal to giving up too much for a shaq in his prime.

I know how the nba cap works. You cant take someone like shaq without giveing up a equal in numbers. If it wasnt butler it would have been Allen. Soo now go sit in a hole and leave all this talk to the people who know what they are talking about.

His contract isnt up next season, he can opt out for whatever reason that he wants. Thats the only reason i dont approve of this trade for the Heat.

shaq and riley met today in miami talking about that. any team wanting to trade for shaq should talk and get a promise from shaq that he won't opt out after only a year and that's what happened. this is just a promise however. shaq can still opt out. i think adding caron was too much for a shaq in his prime.

Did you really think the lakers would have made this deal if butler wasnt in it? Not only was the 1rd a no way with out a fill in player BUT it was also a smoke screen LA was going to get there moneys worth so I knew there was no way the deal would happen in less butler was in it. And hey what ya know he is. Now the Heat are a torn up team with no pf, sf, or sg. And dont you say e.jones because he is so far out of his prime its unreal. Not to metion shaq wrote in his book about how much he disliked him even at one point calling him a baby.

The Cap is about 43 mil

when a deal only odom, grant and 1st round
The 15% rule is put into play and the HUGE Salary that shaq brings to the table widely throws the heat cap way off wack.

With caron butler added The Collective Bargaining Agreement is met and the deal is easly done to allow the heat to resign shaq to a long term deal.

Not to metion there is no way the lakers would have done odom, grant and a throw in.
I just feel sorry for heat fans.

They lost there core team that looked to have such a bright future. Ohh well. They think they can take out the pistons good for them

Actually, it's "Brian Grant, Lamar Odom and either Caron Butler or a No. 1 draft pick". So, Grant, Odom, and a No. 1 draft pick for Shaq wouldn't be that bad of a deal.
