Cherished but beat-up

I'm sure everyone has that one card that they just can't give up but is in terrible shape or just too ugly for anyone else to appreciate. Can anyone beat this?

One cool thing about that card is how it got that way during its travels, you know it wasn't stashed away as soon as it was taken out of a pack, some kid had a ball with that card back in the day and probably handed down a few times. It seems to have a lot of character to it. I would definately appreaciate it for those resons alone. Enjoy it.

There is bound to be one heck of a story regarding this card. Either it suffered this damage shortly after birth, or it was stuffed somewhere, decaying, for over 50 years until rescued. Whatever the case, the story is bound to be more interesting than it would be if the card was a PSA 10. A PSA 10 of this card most likely sat in an unopened pack somewhere for 50 years--big whoop.
  • A PSA 10 of this card most likely sat in an unopened pack somewhere for 50 years--big whoop. Yes but the story behind how that pack managed to survive unopened for 50 years would be interesting along with the thrill of opening it now too.
  • There is a story, although not confirmed.

Legend has it that when Irv Noren joined the Yanks, he was so entranced by the power of the young Mick that he kept this card as a reminder to watch his own swing. It was apparently taped to his locker and later accompanied him on some of his travels with the team. In any event, this could have just been a line of bull but it’s fun to think it might be so.
