What cards did you look at last night?

We all love to thumb through our cards...and I'm sure many of us do it on an hourly, daily, and my personal favorite, nightly basis. So, riddle me this: what cards in your collection were you looking at last night? I was perusing through my near complete set (raw) of 1965 baseball. I have it in one of those MJ Roop binders, each card penny-sleeved. Just for fun, I got my loupe out and admired the NRMT specimens. image

  • I had no time to look at cards last night. My wife and two kinds spent the most part in our basement. We were in tornado warnings all night. We had over 80 mph winds and it tore the $hit out of everything. Crazy feeling and sounds coming from a house that's getting it's butt kicked by wind! To be honest, that's all I was thinking about was my cards! How to save them and where to put them, hehe. No, honestly I was scared for my family. Both kids are under 2 and couldn't figure out what was going on. We finally got power back at 1:30 am. This morning on the way to work was a experience, stuff just tore to $hit. Crazy night in Kansas..

  • I looked at my 33 Goudey # 8 Johnson. It's a tough card to come across and I was wondering why.
Needless to say, the longer I looked at it, it still didn't answer me.

It doesn't look as spectacular in black and white. image

Not last night but at least three times a week I spread all my 56 Topps out on my mothers dining room table and look them over for about a half hour and then my Football gems......(of course when my mother is out of the house)....I just dont get bored with them.
  • PERKDOG:

I love the '56 set, that's my next epic adventure (after I finish my '65 baseball set). Is your set raw or graded? Expensive endeavor?

Last night? Good question. Always good to appreciate the road traveled. Let's see. Last night. Last night...last night...hmm...last...what was the question?

Great question because I was frustrated as hell! I was showing my son some 63F's I purchased and then proceded to pull out the stack - I'm at 20% - for the life of me, I couldn't find #49 Kanehl anywhere!! I'm thinking Bermuda Triangle, Capone's vault, Grant's tomb - hell I even checked my wife's underwear drawer! Shoot, I figured I'ld find my virginity before that damn card! Nothing. Lost. Gone. Then today I find it where I left it - in the scanner!

Mike, too funny. I've done that too. It's gotten to the point where the scanner lid is the first thing I look under when my keys are missing.

I was gently caressing the 1991 Proline Walter Payton autograph that I bought at the Chicago Sports Fest two weeks ago.

    Marc (Elway65),
The 56 set is my favorite and I buy strictly gray backs in psa 7 (I have a few 8's in the mix). As far as it being expensive...YES it has been costing me plenty of $$$ and I am only about 10 percent done! My strategy has been to work on the HOF's (I got 75% of the bigger money cards) Its listed as Perkdogs 56 Topps, Hope you decide to collect them as well, they are a great set to chose, Good Luck.

Nice! I just looked at my johnson...

Sorry... couldn't resist the obvious entré to some off-color humor!
  • I was admiring my new beautiful Ken Dryden OPC NHL Rookie from the vaunted 71/72 Set rated BVG 8 and without
a question a PSA 9...........it is a beauty........payed a fortune for it but I have been salivating like a Pavlov dog looking

  • My wife calls herself a baseball card widow.

I must have over 100 complete sets and several boxes of oddballs, subsets and other stuff from all 4 sports and some non-sports. Mostly 80's - early 90's. I look though them almost every night. Never know what you're going to find. Just last night I found this:

It's about 3x this size. Didn't even know I had it. It is a Brooklyn Dodger emblem MOC from 1952.

I posted this pic on another thread, but I actually forgot I had this set - it was a card game I used in the late '50s in conjuction with my baseball cards. I'd lay out all-star teams and play them against each other using the well-shuffled deck of cards (which is why every single one has a middle crease) - anybody else remember these?
