Just picked this up...I know its a premium for a SAE, but it looks like its starting to tone pretty! Did they all used to come in a case back when they first started minting them?
I have 1989 one in the same case, I believe thats the way they came from the mint. Mine however doesn't look as good as yours. It toned nicely, mine is very dull looking.

Looks like the velvet from the case gave it a tinge of purple coloring. I have an SAE that was stuffed inside a Modern Proof Set for quite a few years, and got some nice purple toning on it...
That's a crap after market holder that's open to the air and any ASE will tone in that unsafe holder. I got those at my shop once and now I can't give them away.
