It's been driving me nuts. Can someone explain "Pick axe" IHC variety to me, maybe a pic?

My 1870 Indian cent is the Pick Axe variety (Snow-7). I'll try to remember to dig it out and take a picture of it later.
It looks like some kind of a tool impacted the die and moved some metal on it, resulting in something that looks like a pick axe at the base of the feathers in the headdress.

Here it is. Interestingly, if memory serves me right, I think I bought this one from J.J. Teaparty about eight years ago.
