Check out this 1843 large cent I just picked up!

Yeah, it might not be in the best shape, but Abraham Lincoln carved his initials on it back in 1850!!.........

    That's one of the things I love about this hobby is taking an old circulated coin and thinking where it could have been. Take a 1798 large cent and thinking who's pocket that could have been in. Including George Washington!

    I have always thought that would be a cool school project to teach kids history. Take a coin from 18XX. It left the mint. Track it to today. Tell me who's pocket it was in, about that person's life, where he/she was at when they got the coin, where they spent it, and what was going on during that time period.

    As far as I'm concerned, Honest Abe put his initials there.

    That's pretty cool. It makes you wonder, and it's exactly why I collect coins as well.
