What is the forum member's ID that is a 1921 Morgan Dollar always looking for that year with die cra

with the die crack along the top of States(reverse) Someone asked me a question about that die crack and I do not want to give a wrong answer. I like Morgans but I am no specialist by any means, on the series and know nothing about VAM's and such. Can anyone remember his ID or is there a Morgan specialist in the house? Thanks!image

Oh...BTW-the coin in question is a 1921-D. Thanks againimage

    I know a few things.

Pose the question and I am sure I or one of my fellow Morgan collectors will chime in.

Thanks guys-both of you. On the 21-D I have up for auction and coincidentally, on the fellow member's icon and request for VAM's, there is a die crack that runs across the top of the letters of the word STATES. Is this a specific VAM or is there anything in particular I should know about this as a potential buyer is asking me about it and I do not know anything more than it being a die crack! Thank you.image

Morgan dollars with die cracks going through the lettered area on the reverse or through the stars on the obverse are not unusual. The only VAM variety that I can find for the 1921-D that provides any additional value for the coin is the VAM 1A - where the S in TRUST is almost completely filled in.

A potential buyer had me send him some close ups and informed the thsi coin I have is referred to as JOH 16. Here is his email upon discovery.

"Mystery solved. I see it now. Have the reference photo in front of me. JOH-16 coin, die break inside lower loop of
second S in STATES. Was submitted for VAM by Paul Pierce in 2002 to Leroy Van Allen, but rejected as too small
a break. Given JOH-16 designation in case a larger break turns up later."

    Thanks, Jack

I believe this forum member that is always asking for these coins and says something to this effect on his sig line just might like to know this! Thanks.

Wolf359 is a major VAM freak, especially 1921-Ds... also Rob Joyce is a 1921-D VAM Expert...
