weighting on '59 Topps variations

Do '59 Master Set collectors here agree with the Set Registry's weighting of variations as equal to the common variety (Hanebrink, Nichols, Loes, Giomballardo, Lumenti)? [This applies to Spahn too, but each of the variations on his card has a weight of 2.75, rather than 1.]

The SMR lists the scarce variation (no option or traded line) as $100 in PSA 7 and $175 in PSA 8 for each of these cards, compared to a common price of $14 in PSA 7 and $28 in PSA 8. By way of comparison, SMR lists Whitey Ford at $70 in PSA 7 and $130 in PSA 8 and Banks at $85 in PSA 7 and $185 in PSA 8.

Don't know about the weighting, but if you can buy any those in PSA 7 for $100. you're way ahead of the game. From my experience if the seller knows what they have the prices are really high- the only way to get a deal is to get someone that doesn't know their stuff.
Burbank Sportscards is a great place to get rare variations cheap.

The weighting on the 'no trade' and 'no option' cards is off base (as well as the tough Spahn variations). These cards should have a weighting befitting some very rare cards. I think they missed the boat on this one. As a matter of fact, someone should bring this to BJ's attention. I will email her if others in '59 will also.

1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards

    Nick....

I have been emailing with BJ and they are going to review the weighting on the '59 variations for the Master Set. She sounded like they would definitely change them.

    Update:

I emailed BJ about the weighting on the variation cards. They have now been changed. The two tough Spahns are now a 5 and the five 'no option' or 'no trade' variations are now weighted a 4 instead of the original 1. Check it out.
