L & C matte nickels?

I have seen a number of sellers on e-bay claiming that some of the nickels of the Lewis anc Clark currency sets have matte finish nickels. Has anybody heard such rumors and if so, is there anything to it?

I believe that the sellers claiming that may be somewhat less than accurate in their assertion.

Yep...I agree...NO MATTE finish.
I bought 7 (sold 5...between $125-$160) and the only comments I heard was it was not matte finish (but, I never advertised that, nor used that word "matte").

Since they are down to $112+ on ebay now, I wonder what the ending price will be....I also wonder when I see the magazines ads still state ~$179+ for them...are they getting that price? Do they even have any? Are they buying on ebay? Hmmmmmm

I also wonder if the prices will slide down then come back up around the pouch set time. Come to think of it (I was a speculator for one of the first times with coins...and very glad I still have 2 for our collections (son and I) and that they were paid for by the other 5 sets) there is NOTHING special about this set. Really there isn't. That's sad.

The mint kind of sucks for that...if they are doing a "special" set....especially for such an inflated price....they need to make at least one of the coins special.
