OH JOY! Got indian head back from ANACS

Finally got in my $5 indian head back from ANACS today. I was very pleased with the grade. Not only that, but it came back with no problems (No net grade), AND a grade higher than what I bought it for!

I bought it as AU-55 from Sahara Coins, it came back slabbed with no net grade at AU-58. (I Think AU-58 is only one grade away from uncirculated?)

I thought Sahara Coins might have overgraded, but I was wrong. It truly shows their respect and commitment to their customers.

Congratulations!! image I'm glad to hear that! AU-58 means there's only a slight hint of wear on the coin. An AU58 is usually comparable to an MS-62 or MS-63, except that it has that slight wear. image

I'm glad it worked out for you. Maybe you ought to send Sahara coins a thank you note. image I've felt like that from time to time when I got something better than I expected from a dealer.

AU58 is basically MS63+ with a rub. Then again, 55 means either slightly more wear, or a few more hits--not really much of a difference.

From my experience with $5 indians the MS63+ with a rub= AU58 does not hold true. If a $5 indian has luster it will grade MS62 and up. No luster and no wear they will grade 60-61. No luster with wear they will go AU or lower. They all pretty much have contact marks on the face area(even in high grades and many have weakness in the upper feathers so don't let that fool you into thinking it's wear). mike image

      Thanks for the support all...

The date is 1908. We missed the mail man today,(we got the pink slip "Of death" at our door) so my mom and I chased him down around town and finally found him after asking 3 mailmen! I'll take the picture later, we moved stuff around so I can't really find it right now. Plus I really feel sick right now from ... something. After going to mexico and camping in the swamp with mesquitos the size of large tacos, I ain't feeling to well. This city had realllly bad poverty, when I got home with my glass liter coke, to my horror I read the copyright label and it said 2002.. (The coke was 2 years old!) I drank it anyway.

Me too. Maybe all raw gold coins aren't traps?
