Grade Opinions on 1913 Type I Buffalo

Picked this one up on EBAY from Klondike95, he always has some superior coins for sale.

What do you all think?

How's the luster on the coin? That's a big part of the grade on these as they usually come with plenty. If it has a full complement, I could see it as an MS66. If not, MS65.

Environmental damage obv. I don't like the look of the obv., at all.

The reverse shows plenty of die fatigue, ok strike and a spot of green corrosion on the rim at 12ish.

    How's the luster?

To be quite honest, I don't like the coin, from the images anyway.

Depends on the price I guess.

Being Honest, I have to agree with Darin,

Doesnt do much for me, the surfaces seem to have some granularity, and the obverse corrosion is noticeable and significant.

    Id pass !

13 TY I are available at decent prices?

If the luster is excellent, then the images are not true to life, which makes an already difficult exercise even more so.

Luster aside, however, it appears as though there might be some light wear on the coin - look at the large, lighter area on the buffalo's hide between the shoulder and the upper left rear leg. Ditto for the lighter section on the Indian's cheek. Hopefully those areas don't represent wear but they might.

I don't like it. There seems to be some greenish material near the rim and the dark mark in front of the Indian's eye is a major turn-off. This is a very common coin so you can be picky.

I went and found your auction, and you did ok for the price( his pic made it look nicer than yoursimage) I think it would look nice in album or type set

If the coin really has great luster - MS65. The color isn't good enough for MS66.

However, if the luster is what I think it is - MS63.

Hmmm... it could be nice... but looks ugly in the photo. I'd say a 63 at best

Looks like this was taken with a scanner, the strike seems just avg, a couple of hits, MS63
