Anyone else notice the realized prices today on the PSA 8 1966 Philadelphia FB???
Try these on for size:
PSA 8 1966 Philly Bob Brown
PSA 8 1966 Philly Mike Connelly
PSA 8 1966 Philly Chuck Howley
All went for well over 10X SMR. The Bob Brown almost went as high as the PSA 8 Gale Sayers RC from the same set PSA 8 Gale Sayers RC
So if anyone is sitting on some nice UNgraded versions of these cards, it would probably be worth your time to use PSA latest 5-day Special and get them on ebay ASAP...

Wow.
Didn't get the other auctions to see how the rest did but these prices I think count as a bit more than strong. These are very tough to say the least. Of the four auctions you list there were three different winners and two different bidders winning cards at over $250. Boy, I have a bunch of 8's that I would sell for a lot less than that.

OK, I'll get in line for that one....
PM or e-mail me with your PSA 8 HOF RC prices.
You do take the Independance card... right?
Mike
PS - Your PM is that little light in the upper left corner that's been blinking since I PM'd you on Saturday to ask you a question. I'm sure you just missed it.... cause you know I'd just start a big ol nasty Fuzz thread to get your attention otherwise
man this is a funny hobby. when I sold 2 of the 6 (4 at the time) howleys for 150 each last year I thought it was crazy and I was making out like a bandit. I also sold the only psa 9 howley for less than that 8. let's not even talk about the psa 9 hayes. rookie mistake I guess.
I can see people going crazy once and a while for the rookies but mike connelly?? maybe dave p. had top all snipes not thinking he would ever get challenged I guess becasue he doesn't usually bid like that.
I was going to wait until football season to part with this one but maybe I should get it up there now. right out of a pack.
SELL IS A FOUR LETTER WORD
Selling Cards.......COULD IT BE BATMAN ??
NAWWWWWWWWW !!
I'm hoping a few more show up so i can have one too...lol

a couple observations on this set, why are there 3 times as many high grade sayers as there are butkus rookies? Makes you wonder about the placements on the sheet or if 1 of the sheets was just not printed as much or destroyed even though it is not publicized?
some of the commons have pops in the teens while there are many with one or 2 and some not even graded .
there are other stars like unitas and starr that don't have many graded cards, granted these will lag the 2 big rookies but one would think these would be submitted not to far behind.
I have opened several cello packs and bought a fresh lot that came with the packs. what I noticed was that some cards came up rather easily, I pulled a starr and had another pack with him showing but they were both o/c.
the most plentiful star cards in the lot were taylor and olsen by far, I had a stack of 6 or each all in gradable condition. I had a stack of 5 nitschke's and they all were o/c .
I have sold off all of my cards from this set and these are the questions I always wondered. since I came across this lot and started researching this set 2 years ago. I was going to build it becasue I had all the big names in psa 8 or 9 but it was impossible to find the rest so I bailed for some nice premiums. I know there are some others on the board that have some ideas on this set , WOLFBEAR where are you
These are those little tidbits we need to know when tyring to acquire these cards for our sets.

I've been working on these Philly football sets for a few years and my feeling is that the hobby treats them has "the red headed stepchild" of football. These recent prices were strong but abberations nonthe less. On the other side of the spectrum, there were a few Philly's that closed on Sunday night that went for under $25 per card. I forgot to put my snipe in and I'm sure others did too. With pops so low on many of these cards and plenty of ungraded material as well as some unopened material showing up from time to time, prices should stabilize. Patience is a virtue.
packCollector - those Butkus vs Sayers rookie card numbers are amazing, I had never noticed that before.
A new factor to add into all the pop number crunching I've been doing in looking at football sets from the 1960's.
If you look at all the badly off-centered and diamond cut cards that Philadelphia actually released for sale in 1966,
you can only imagine all the even worse sheets that they must have had to destroy, thereby creating short prints of sorts.
How else could set that doesn't have actual short prints, have so many impossible to find cards ?
Latest pop report shows 5 of the 1966 Philly with no card graded 8 or higher,
and 20 cards that are a pop of only one in 8 or higher. Talk about your tough sets ...
