Roosies!!!!!!!

I decided to work on something a little more modern and a little less expensive than my Morgans. A basic non-band MS Roosie set will be in the works. I know the boards are full of Roosie experts and any guidance, advice, or just thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I would also be interested in any pq duplicates you may want to part with.

Thanks

Keith

    silver? clad? or both?

  • I think I'll concentrate with the 46 - 64 silvers first. I would like to gather up as many high end non-FB examples as I can and then start picking my way through mint sets. I'll target both blast white and nicely toned versions as I feel a good mix gives a set some character.

Sounds like a fun endeavor and probably the most coin for the money of any series right now.

I've only got one of 'em right now...bought it for the toning and nothing else; wish I could get a picture that really showed off the luster and how vivid the toning is:

guess the image issue is cropping up again...just in case the red X problem persists I've added the files below.

Roosies make a great set with a lot of great coins in it. You can also find
many coins with very full strikes which don't get the FB/FT designation so
don't have a huge premium. Look for coins with full tops to the periphery
    lettering and reverse detail.

There are signs that there could be a rapid disappearance of clad mint sets
so don't wait too long to add these.

    Good luck.

The silver set maybe the easliest right now. There are plenty of people looking for the clads. I think its a great idea not to get involved with the full bands right now, unless you have an unlimited cash flow!!!!

I should explain my comment further I think. What I mean when I made the comment big money guys. Is when I first started collecting clad Roosies, you could buy them at bargain prices as compared to now. Of course the full band thingie came along and prices went skyward fast. More and more people started and registered their sets, and now you have to count on spending more for the coins because demand is up. And everyone knows about supply and demand. Makes it hard on us low budget guys, but there's always the option of submitting your own coins for grading. If and when my coins return from PCGS, I'll keep what I need and offer the rest to registry members. I would rather see coins I made in the registry, be it someone who passes me on the list even, than just stored away somewhere taking up space. image
