Latest additions to my type set (a SLQ crackout)

Latest additions to my type set - seated liberty quarters (all raw and probably gently cleaned long ago) and a type 2 SLQ. The type 2 was my first Heritage win. Share some pics of yours.

Crackout? - did somebody call me?!

I added this Kennedy to my 20th Century Type set (picked it up at the Colorado Springs show this weekend). It has similar album toning to a couple other coins in the set.

Um - I don't know what method you are using to crack your coins out, but you might wanna switch it up. That looks a little dangerous with the break going directly across where the coin was. Plastic could scrape it very easy. I use heavy duty metal snips to just cut around the edge of the whole thing.

Crackout - nice coin. Your icon looks like my first crackout, it was a mess.

PutTogether - There's enough clearance between the coin and plastic so that the cracked plastic doesn't touch the coin. I admit it's a little risky having the the cutters so close to the coin. But the coin slides out easily since the crack is right over it.

  • I would suggest using a vice with all ANACS and NGC coins. Makes the task easier and safer.
