Crossover Results - 42 D/D - Jefferson - Picture attached

Purchased a 42 D/D in an ANACS slab in MS65FS a few months ago.

Well it took two tries to cross this coin - the first at MS65FS resulted in a DNC. I thought this coin had a 50 / 50 shot at full steps. There is a light nick across two steps, more of an indent but not fully through the steps.

On the second submission the coin crossed at MS65. This is now a pop 2 coin with none better. Once the coin comes back from PCGS I will add pictures. This coin has great toning and eye appeal and is now one of the top coins in my collection.

In my opinion this is the toughest variety in the Jefferson series.

I am now looking to see if anyone is interested in a trade (+ or - some cash?) for my 1942 D/D MS62FS for a 1954S MS65FS. I think my 42 D/D has a very decent shot at MS63FS. The steps on this coin are very clean and definitely deserving of a full step designation. I may try submitting it this week.

If anyone has an extra 54S send me a PM.

If you think the steps have a shot, you can always try for a designation review after a period of time. How did the price of the ANACS coin compare to the price of you PCGS coin? Just curious how the market compares the two services for FS jeffs.

Congrats on the new addition, hope you find a better 54-S (tough coin in FS though).

    nice going frank...
theres another anacs slabbed one available ms65fs in one of the coin world ads last week. I agree the coin is a toughie, but for a small guy like me without alot cash to have handled 7 different grades from xf to au58 I have no doubt the more that sell, the more will popup. (this one is listed at 10700) The seller of the 5 au58's and the ms63fs still is holding quite a few examples that will will rock the pops. The ones held back were far superior to the ms63fs he sold on heritage a few months back.

and didnt you have a ms62fs??????

but ya didnt hear it here image

  • Congratulations, Frank! That's a real coup. And I think you're right -- it's probably the toughest of the varieties. Enjoy!
