1967 Topps Baseball .... A Thing Of Beauty !!

I have always been a Football Card Collector but recently I just started putting together a 1967 Topps Baseball Set.
I can't believe what a beautiful looking set this is.
Topps truely out did themselves on this issue IMHO.
I was just wondering if any of you out there could point me in the right direction as far as trying to locate nice cards
or collectors that specialize in this issue.
I am looking for high end PSA 7's or PSA 8's well centered or raw that will grade out as such.
Would really like to put a nice clean set together.
Any tips, hints or referrals would be very appreciated.
Thank you very much for anyone that responds.

    Kirk;

I couldn't agree more! The 67 set is hands down the best of the 60s and one of Topps best 5 efforts of all time... I have long harbored a desire to build this set and finally came out of the closet a few weeks ago and registered my meager 25-card amassment... One dealer I had a great buy from was Mickey's Sportscards... I got some very nice PSA 8s for a reasonable price and he has lots of NMT+ to NM-MT raw singles for about $1.75 each... you should check him out:

    Kirk,
LOVE '67s! Probably my favorite 60's set. I especially like 'em when you find 'em with bright lime-green backs. DHCards sold hundreds in SGC holders a couple years back and those were the freshest I've ever seen offered. Kyle Boetel typically has nice raw stuff at shows.
The larger shows are the best way to go with these raw. Another idea would be to contact the registrants and see who has duplicates. It's always a great idea to learn from guys who've built it and build a rapport for future dealings. Good luck, it's a real beauty of a set...also, the pre-1968 PSA NM 7 is one of the hobby's truly underrated cards. You can find really nice NM 7's lying around out there.

I agree, the 67 is the nicest looking of the 60s sets. I am currently building a 1967 red sox team set--it's a beautiful coincidence that this is a great year for sox fans to collect as well.

  • Mojo - I have a couple of common 67's in PSA 7. PM and I'll let you know which ones when I dig them out.

    I checked,
I've only got 271 Watt in PSA 7.

Let me know if you want it.

  • Kirk:

as a fellow 67 collector could not agree more - I have amassed a number of duplicates primarily from raw submissions over a number of years - my duplicates which are available for sale or trade can be found at Treadwaycards.com - I need to do some updating of the site but majority are still available

    Happy hunting!

    Kirk,

First, thank you for the nice e-mail and your thoughful comments and compliments are greatly appreciated.

Yes, I agree that Topps outdid themselves with this set!

In addition, to my set currently on the registry, I'm passively building a second set of nice, well centered 8's too! I typically bid on nice 8's on eBay and lose most, but win a few at nice prices. I also try to find nice raw ones when I can.

It's getting tougher and tougher to find nice '67 NM-Mint cards at shows these days. I was at the TriStar show in Houston 3 weeks ago and only found about ten '67 cards that were NM-Mint with centering within 55/45 both ways. Kyle Boetel was at that show. He's a good dealer and now he's segregated his NM-Mint cards out of the rest of his inventory and sells '67 low number commons for $5+ raw. With that being said, eBay may be your best bet.

    Kirk,

It's a great set and should be fun to build. Here's a link to an article about the set that might give you some additional information. Good luck.

From my name you'd know I focus on 1967s...unfortunately FOCUS is a problem
with some cards - am convinced there is no such thing as a focused Cards Clubbers, or Bob
Saverine, or another dozen I could name if I hadn't been up for so many hours in a row
already. the aforementioned dhcards and I each put up big auctions in December, so keep
your eyes to ebay then if not before. Also free to PM me with a want list when you get it
down to a few dozen from a few hundred that you need.

1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
