Paypal Scam question

I received an email today alledgedly from paypal.
The message was that a new email address had been added to my paypal account and if I had not requested this to contact them. The new email address was listed. The typeset on the email was slightly different from other emails I have received from paypal and they misspelled my first name. Besides these 2 things it appeared legitimate.
I checked my account for recent activity. There was none.
I changed my password and removed my credit card.
I tried to contact paypal but only got a recorded message saying they were unavailable until Tuesday.
Has anyone here experienced this? Advise and suggestions appreciated.
