This is a very hard one to do, it's still in the holder.

Try this, take a coin and put it in a spoon, and hold the spoon over an open flame. It'll give you rainbowing colors... but it'll be ovular in shape. I saw a couple IHCs like this in a local shop, and someone told me had they had done it, after I described the coin...

It's true - even if you come out and tell them it's AT.

Agreed.... any money you may eventually make ATing coins will just be offset by the horrifying karma you will face in a future time.....

There's been a ton of threads about AT coins, with many pretty pictures of them. If you're strictly interested in the your own education of spotting AT crap, then do a search and you'll find plenty to study.....

The age of the toned coin is soon coming to an end. The Doctors are getting so good

soon, no one will be sure of any toned coin. Expect a price collapse, as confidence

erodes in such manufactored toned coins.

The getting good part has already happened about ten years ago and most argue their coins are the real thing but the way toned coins are popping up in the market place kind tells the story. Also I have no problem with people AT'ing coins to learn how it is done and to learn what is AT. mike image

What's funny to me is how toning is catagorized by natural and AT. It's all "AT". If the Mint didn't produce the coin that way, it's AT. image

If you want colors, collect childrens coloring books.

Edited to add: This is directed at the doctors and doctor wannabes.

When I was first starting out in numismtics, I too did an AT experiement, with fairly decent results. Wait until it rains, go out in your backyard, get some pocket change, get a few handfulls of mud and put the mud in flowerpots. Then put the change in the middle of the mud in the pot, and leave it to dry for 2 - 3 weeks. You should have some very colorful AT'ed coins.
