1916-S Indian Head Eagle - Grade Opinions?

My grandmother has had this coin for decades. She was nice enough to give it to me today as a gift.

Any opinions on its grade/authenticity? Thanks image

Note: Some of the marks and the piece of hair are on the coin's holder, not the coin itself.

AU50 net XF40 for cleaning?? A cool coin and a treasure because of who gave it to you.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
  • Gold is always a nice gift. I am fairly certain the coin was cleaned/polished at some point.

Absolutely. I'm not asking for opinions to sell it or anything, just to have an idea of what I have. image

And since I don't really practice with grading, would the signs of cleaning be, for example, around the breast and front of the head of the eagle where it "glows" a bit? Or am I completely off target? image
  • Hair line scratches are one thing to look for. I'd call it XF45.
