NCS question

mepotmepot Posts: 585 ✭✭✭

I was looking at my coins yesterday,[my wife calls it playing with my coins]image and I noticed a spot of

PVC on a NGC MS65 1884CC Morgan.I bought this coin slabbed,and never saw this spot before.If I

send it to NCS,will it come back the same grade, lower,or will they bag it for the PVC?

Oh man, what a way to screw up my weekend!image

    Mepot,

If you are certain that it's PVC, I'd suggest that you contact NGC first, not NCS. Explain the situation to them and request that they remove the PVC. There is a possibility (I can't promise that) they will do that, free of charge. If you use NCS there is a fee involved.

Coinguy1 has a good point. NCS is owned by NGC, so they would have the technology to get rid of the PVC, and NGC doesn't want coins with PVC in their holders. You could also wait until K6AZ gives you instructions for removing the PVC if you want to crack it out.

I'd guess that it's more a probability than a possibility. NGC is very responsive with this type of stuff.

Thanks for the quick replies, thats why I spend so much time lurking here, the knowledge is endless.

Coinguy1,I'm fairly certain its PVC; green fuzzy looking spot, standing up off the surface of the coin.

Looks like I'll be calling them this week.I wonder if I have to join their collectors club to send it to them?
