I think that thing's a geode slice with a piece of paper glued on it. I better go to the rock shop and get myself some dollars for 50 cents each, and while I'm at it, some Elmer's Glue and bits of paper!

Edit: The second one looks like a geode. The first looks like a Mini-CD that spent some time in Barney's stomach. (hence the purple color and pitted, eroded, digested appearance)
