Who is this clown? He's pimping a first issuse Sports Illustrated with 1954 Topps Baseball cards included. What is the story behind this? He's claiming they are issued on special stock to be inserted but I have to imagine they aren't that rare.

"this is your LAST chance to own a piece of Lebron James ROOKIE memorabilia this year!" etc.. etc..
Ya gotta love this guy when he was on Shop at Home!

edit: BTW, I wouldn't trust Goldin as far as I can throw the guy!!!!

I would be affraid of the SI issues since 50,000 copies of the first issue were reprinted by SI in 2001 and were NOT marked reprint and are hard to distinguish. The original copies had a mail in subscription card which is not in the reprints.
The original set of insert cards go for like 175$ whereas the reprinted inserts go for like 30$ nm.
To make things more interesting, SI had a big warehouse find back in the early 90's that was legit but it did punch a hole in the value of the others since people perceived the issue as less scarse.

edit: I did buy one from the SI store for like 300$ - it is flawless - paper shows slight aging but that's not a bad thing either. And, if memory serves me, mine has the mailer insert.
