anybody know the deal with this ticket?.. i know Rocky died in 1969, so the dude is wrong about that.. and I know that Walcott and Marciano fought in 1953, but it was on 5/15/53.. any help?
p_A Did you check out this guys record? Wolcott started fighting in the 30's - he was an old man when he fought marciano! My point is - this fight as GR said musta been postponed but he was fighting a has been by the 2nd fight for sure? If I remember, he was some kind of a boxing official for NJ and some say this is a classic example of a guy who stayed at the dance too long.
They also stated he is the only undefeated heavyweight champ. Mike edit to add: based on the record and stuff, I can't see this ticket having any historical significance - but that's a guess - know NOTHING about this kind of stuff. But if you can get it for cheap and a fight fan - then why not?
Mike, in my opinion, Marciano was the hardest puncher in boxing, especially for his size (185lbs) which I would bet is also the lightest heavyweight champion (i could be wrong about that).. Marciano was one of the best heavyweights ever.. Joe Walcott was probably over the hill, but Marciano was a brawler.. a plain bad ass! he deformed Walcotts face with 1 punch.. he also knocked out Joe Louis..
Rocky died before i was born, but my pops was always a big Marciano fan, so i ended up a fan too..
and youre right, he is the only heavyweight champ to retire undefeated (and stay retired)..

He musta been the man! My dad used to talk about him too! He said, from a short punching distance, he packed more power than anyone he had ever seen. Could knock the lights out on someone with no problemo!
Here's a guy people were always confusing Marciano for due to the similarity in their name. Mike
dude i think i might tackle a low-midgrade vintage boxing set on the registry.. probably the 1951 ringside or something.. i only have 3 or 4 raw singles.. nothing else..
