How do you serve up your slabs?

As a new collector I'm serving up my raw stuff in my Dansco albums. But those of you working on slabbed only sets how do you display / store them? Those blue boxes? Specially made slab albums (do they exist)? Curious...

Both. There are a couple of companies that make slab albums, the most well known of which is Eagle.

  • I use the Eagle pages.
The type you want are listed as Single Certified Album Page. Holds 9 slabs." on that prior link.
They fit NGC,PCGS slabs and ANACS, 2x2's, others with adaptors that they sell.

I use both Eagle albums and NGC boxes. NGC boxes hold both PCGS and NGC slabs.

I have velvet lined cases with glass tops. Each case holds 10 slabs. The coins that I do not have on display are in the PCGS boxes. Extra special coins are displayed on plastic stands.
  • I use the intercept shield holders by Lucent Technologies. Specifically, I use the individual boxes that fit 10 to a larger box. Wayne Herndon Rare Coins sells them (6 boxes of 10 each) at a discount to Collectors Universe board members. With his discount, it ends up being around $1 per slabbed coin for long-term storage that lasts 10 years. image

Eagle Albums.I have a couple of the zip up kind with 3 pages in each(36 total coins). They're relatively compact, and allow viewing both sides of the coins. They also have a built in handle, so they're great for shows.

I use these in order to get them out of albums, and boxes so I can enjoy looking at them once in a while.

  • Since I only have 1 slab, 'tis in my safe. Perhaps when i get more, I'll grab a blue PCGS box for them, provided I get another safe to hold them.

My father-in-law makes furniture in his retirement. Built a really nice coin cabinet for me. But he also made a few solid oakstands that display my slabs. They are two-tiered so each one holds 5 on the top and 5 on the bottom. I'll work on a picture.

If you're looking for something new and different to store and/or display your slabs-see my new listing on ebay under albums-the SlabSolution storage and dislay case. Item # 3919853863. Thanks.

I stack 'em up in the safe deposit box because they take up less room that way. It's not a great presentation, but so it goes.

BTW, Whitman is about to launch a new line of very attractive and affordable wood slab display and storage cases. Samples were on exhibit at the Atlanta show a couple of weeks ago.

  • you can get both PCGS/NGC from the CW Site where they have mahoganoy cases that have slots for certified coins. they have different sizes for PCGS/NGC and ICG, SEGS AND PCI and I bet even ACG. slabbed coins. VERY NICE, but A little pricey. check the Coin World Ad in their latest issue and you'd be all set. There's a forum member that also sells these boxes and look great, just not sure of name. Good Luck.
