I agree, from Streetcar to Godfather - wow! - a prayer for a great actor - and my favorite of his movies:

What was the line he said to Martin Sheen?

Something like "you are an errand boy......sent by grocery clerks.....to collect the bill."

My favorite also, especially the director's cut that was released a year or two ago.

Streetcar, and On The Waterfront are classics.

My wife who is very Italian was getting into the Sopranos last year. Come to find out she had never seen the Godfather movies, I couldn't believe it. I rented them all.........and she was learning to make cannoli and oso bucco the next week.

She already knew how to handle a firearm. image
  • Awesome actor. Sorry to hear this. Just saw something on him yesterday that he was 20 million in debt. To bad.

Looking for 81-84 Topps Stickers in PSA 9 or better, 81 Topps Scratch offs, 83 Topps Fold outs in PSA 8 or better, 83 Fleer Stamps and 81/86 Fleer Star Stickers in PSA 9 or better.

  • "I could have been a contender"

Too bad more don't see that line for how inspirational and prophetic it is.

a sad day indeed , it's ironic that i just picked up the godfather trilogy on DVD. my VHS tapes just about wore out.

edited to say: i will not watch godfather 3, once was enough.
  • sad.... very influential actor. There was a lot of pride when I told people that I went to the same high school as he.

Man, I was watching The Godfather like two nights ago, admiring Brando and thinking to myself how lucky we are over the fact that he is still alive and with us, unlike James Dean who is my all-time favorite. image

Today a thespian died. His finally words were "These Mallomars are stale". Check out The Muppets Take Auschwitz. He has a cameo. I think he started to fade when Tobey Maguire beat him out for the part of Spiderman. Luckily, all his kids killed each other so they won't have to grieve too hard. His only regret was he never ate a small child. He had chances on Fiji, but he always balked. If he could do it again, I'm sure he'd dip the little brats in honey/mustard sauce and polish them off with a nice Merlot.

Let's give him his "sports" due for On The Waterfront. He could have been a contender. He didn't start eating his children until much later in life. image
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!
  • Scumbi, I for one, appreciate your sense of humor/sarcasm. On another thread, some guys were giving you heat, last week but keep it coming anyways. Something Dear Marlon would never had to deal with from mere mortals......"I'll make him an offer he can't refuse" was another favourite line. Too bad I can't use often enough.
