i have been trying to hone my evaluation skills of photos of coins and came across e-bay item 3918137367. my question is does the area around the "s" mintmark look suspect?

It does look indented but could just be the pic.I would like to see a close-up of the MM to see if it is an added later MM. The first thing I noticed was the damage in front of nose. That would stop me.

There is a big difference in value between XF and AU, do you feel LuckY?, My guess is that it will go up, But, then again, it closes at a good time on the east coast.

    I would pass.

Here is a blown up shot of the mintmark on the coin in the auction.

The mintmark appears to be original - one thing that's for sure, the coin was definitely struck with a mintmark, hence the dent around the mintmark. Thing I don't get is that the seller talks AU and UNC grade values, but skips the fact that the coin is a worked over EF.
