Excuse my ignorance, but how do I tell? It was not attributed.

Use about a 20x glass. Look between the numbers in the date. If it is a double date or invertered date it will be obvious. The inverted date has raised curled lines (rements of the original date punched too high). The other version is a double date, and the doubling is very obvious. To me it looked like the may be a curl between the "1" and the first "8".

This one is a double date.

I do believe inverted date! You can kind of see something inside the 8s and 5 but the toning is dark so it is hard to tell. I will try to take a different picture and see if I can do better.

Edited to remove picture. I have added a better picture on original link.

Can someone take another look at the link. I have now added a close up of the date. I'm not sure exactly what's going on here. I've looked at Breen's and the Red Book for information. At first glance, it doesn't appear to be inverted date, not much going on between digits. It clearly looks like repunched date especially the last 8. But what caught my attention is what appears to be something between the first 8 and the 5 near the top of the digits. There is also something under the flag on the 1. Any body have a resource that can help identify this?
