A funny thing happened to me on the way through the Beckett...

Anyone ever notice that the 1991 Upper Deck Favre RC books at $10, but the entire series 1 set of cards 1-500 books at $8? I guess the early 90's stuff is such junk that you get money back if you store the rest of the cards when buying a Favre.
Baseball Card Heaven, the closest card shop to the Las Vegas Strip.

Our current ebay auctions, and of course BaseBallCardHeaven.com

that actually makes sense.. because you probably couldnt PAY somebody to take the rest of the cards off your hands..

That's actually a long-standing truism of card collecting. The value of all the individual cards in a set will always exceed the set's value when sold as a set.

Supposedly, this is due to the fact that more people are interested in single star cards than complete sets, and sellers are usually willing to get less money in order to get rid of stock that they will probably never be able to sell any other way.
