Quite easily... this is the US Mint we're talking about here

It's not entirely boring but when you collect them you start thinking to yourself "Why don't they change the reverse every year?". At least I did....and then I realized I was bored with them and sold'em...image

This would be a much more popular series if they changed the reverse every year.

  • I think the reverse looks much better in the Proof issues.

Proof rev looks nicer than MS. Just seems with the classical obv it has, they could have done something a bit more interesting on the rev. But as Jeremy said, this is the US Mint we're talking about.

If you complained about the Obverse, the walking liberty half dollar collectors would have linched you.

Your images are awesome. Just wait until I get my Canon Rebel with a 100mm Macro lens.

I don't know about the reverse, but the resolution of your image is spellbinding. I see a couple minute flecks and a toning spot on the obverse that are so minor I have no right to see them! Keep 'em coming Mark, I really enjoy watching your progress with this new camera.

It's more crappy symmetry. I am so tired of that in coins. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. The obverse couldn't be more asymmetrical and it has always been considered one of the most artistic U.S. designs ever produced. Symmetry in the design of anything (logos, signs etc) often happens when you have a group of people deciding on the design who aren't artists or designers. All they know how to do is make things "orderly" and symmetry is the only design element they know of. I don't know if that is the case here, but I wouldn't be surprised.

My LEAST favorite 90 percent symmetrical design is without a doubt, the reverse of the Washington quarter. How boring can a design get?! However, take a look at the reverse of the mecury dime. The elements could be very symmetrical except they are broken up by those wonderful plants. Beautiful!

To me, the ultimate compliment of an image is when someone slices it up for an icon. I've been looking for a nice modern Liberty for a long time.

  • Is there a stop date to the silver or gold eagles? How are you ever suppose to have a complete set?
